Awesome Taqueria opens in Nashua

Had dinner tonight at Taqueria Colima.  It opened about 3 weeks ago in the grey building in front of the Clocktower Apartments off the oval in downtown Nashua (Clocktower Place, off Factory Street).  I didn’t peruse the full menu but it looked like standard Mexican fare.   I was zeroed in on the tacos.   There are three types on the menu at the moment.

  • Carne Asada (beef)
  • Carne Adobada (marinated pork, sort of Al Pastor)
  • Chicharrones (fried pork skins)

I tried the Carna Asada and Adobada tacos and I wasn’t disppointed.   Served traditionally with corn tortillas and lots of cilantro and onions.  Very fresh, very tasty and they are only $2 bucks each and service was very fast.

I didn’t try the Chicharrones but they are on my todo list, as well as the rest of the menu.   Back when I lived in California, we used to hit the ‘Taco Truck’  in Old Town Pasadena off Fair Oaks and Holly or later Fair Oaks and Walnut after boozn at Gordon Biersch, Lucky Baldwins or McMurphy’s and I’ve struggled in the 10 years I’ve been out here in NH to find decent mexican food.  We have a stripmall restaurant here in town that does have the best Mexican in the Boston area called La Carreta (Daniel Webster Hwy, Nashua) but nothing until now like the simple street food.   I don’t head downtown much anymore but this place is going to be a regular stop from now on.

To get to Taqueria Colima, from Main Street take either Water Street to Factory and make a right onto Clocktower Pl and you’ll actually think you are pulling into the Clocktower apartments and the Taqueria is on your immediate left, with a small parkinglot right next to the building.  Or you can take High Street to Walnut Street and bang a right onto Walnut and then a left onto Clocktower Place.

If you like REAL mexican foot make the trip.  You won’t regret it!

Additionally:  I’ve heard there is taqueria literally out of a white van on Pine Street somewhere during the day that I’m going to have to explore too.
